So you must be reading this to find out about the person behind Bellisima Baby Bags?
My name is Sabrina. I am a woman who loves a fashionable outfit complete with a designer handbag. But I also play the part of a real house wife to a hardworking gentleman and homeschool our three great kids. Not to mention, I am the mompreneur/owner of Bellisima Baby Bags.
However, before starting BellisimaBabyBags.com, I worked in the corporate world for about 10 years before deciding to become a stay at home mom shortly after my youngest turned a year old. My oldest son was diagnosed with Autism in 2006 at the age of 4. I was devastated emotionally. I was essentially told by his therapists that unfortunately I was apart of a generation of mothers that would not have the "ideal" mothering experience with their child. So after his diagnosis, I knew that I would need to be available for doctor's appointments, teacher conferences, etc. in order to support him and facilitate the therapies and services he would need. So I accepted the challenge and quit my full-time job to stay at home. I was determined to prove to myself and others that I can have the "ideal" mothering experience. So far, I am winning!
At first, the idea of staying home was intimidating. But as the days passed, I realized that this is where I wanted to be. Despite that wonderful feeling (and 24/7 mothering role), I had a longing to start my own business with a focus of helping mothers find their way through the maze of parenthood fashionably! I came upon the idea of selling designer baby bags when my daughter showed me an old picture of myself. I apparently must have been picking up the kids from daycare after work when the picture was snapped as I had my makeup on, chic jean dress and cute pixie hair cut (complete with highlights). When I looked closely at the photo, I immediately saw something that was a major fashion blunder. Despite my chic appearance, I had a pastel yellow rubber ducky diaper bag hanging from my shoulder! "Oh my gosh! What was I thinking?" I said to myself. Obviously, at that time, I didn't think that a diaper bag could be fashionable. Every time I had a baby shower, the diaper bag was either black, pastel pink, blue or yellow. The diaper bag was a rite of passage in my mind - I had to carry it but I didn't have to love it. I didn't realize that a baby diaper bag could be an extension of my personal fashion style. I viewed it only as something that could hold and transport all of my baby's gear from one place to another. So for many years, I carried around those ugly bags coupled with the fact that I carried my designer purse to then adopt the title of "Bag Lady".
Fast forward to the year 2011.
Imagine my surprise to find that there were now diaper bags on the market that solved the fashion crisis I found myself in as a new mother! I immediately jumped on the opportunity to create a small home based business around a unique solution to an age old problem. Diaper bags have evolved for parents who are seeking more than "just a diaper bag." They come in a variety of colors, styles, functionality, fabrics and designs that anyone who carries one will definitely love. I have my personal favorites that I carry and receive compliments on all the time. So don't be surprised if you're asked, "Where did you get your cute purse from!" Smile and simply say, "BellisimaBabyBags.com, where it's "their stuff, but my style."
I am grateful to be able to bring Bellisima Baby Bags with all its style, eco-friendliness, and practicality to YOU, the chic, modern mom and dad. My wish for you is to celebrate and embrace parenthood with style because I pride myself on the fact that it's "their stuff, but your style."
